Veterans Day, a federal holiday, falls on a Saturday this year.

Here's everything to know about where to celebrate the veteran in your life, what deals are available and which services will be closed and open this weekend.

Veterans Day events in South Jersey

Enjoy the clear weather this weekend with some Veterans Day activities in South Jersey. The National Weather Service is calling for clear skies and highs in the mid 50s on Saturday.

Battleship New Jersey, Camden: Celebrate Veterans Day aboard the Battleship New Jersey on Saturday, starting at 11 a.m. The event is free to attend will include the national anthem, Taps on bugle, a memorial wreath casted upon the Delaware River and a blast of the ship's guns.

Soldiers and Sailors Park, Cape May: Join the City of Cape May on Veterans Day for an 11 a.m. celebration honoring those who have served. The ceremony is free and will include The American Legion Post 193, The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 386 and the U.S. Coast Guard TRACEN Cape May.

War Memorial on Broad and Main, Riverton: Join the Riverton VFW's Honor Guard Sunday, Nov. 12 at 10 a.m. to celebrate Veterans Day and add five new names to the honor roll.

What will be open and closed on Veterans Day?

Restaurants and retailers: Most restaurants and retailers remain open on federal holidays, including Veteran's Day. Some small businesses may have altered hours for the holiday.

Hospitals and emergency services: Most large hospitals and emergency services remain open on federal holidays. Some smaller or private clinics may have odd hours, so you should check with your provider.

Banks: Veterans day is a standard federal reserve bank holiday, which means most banks will be closed in observance. Because the holiday falls on a Saturday this year, banks will stay open on the preceding Friday.

Shipping Services: The United Stated Postal Service will be closed on Saturday in observance of the federal holiday. UPS pick up and delivery services will be available, and FedEx will only offer ground shipping services on Veterans Day.

Free and discounted admission:

The Battleship New Jersey: Veterans can enjoy a self-guided tour at the price of any donation on Saturday.

Adventure Aquarium, Camden: From Nov. 13-17, military service members can access Adventure Aquarium at a discounted rate of $28.99.

Grounds for Sculpture, Hamilton: This Saturday veterans can enjoy free entrance at this Hamilton sculpture park and museum. Guests will still have to pay entry.

Other deals and discounts for veterans and active duty:

Applebee's: A free entree from a specialized menu on Nov. 11 with ID.

Hooters: Eat free from a select menu (with the purchase of a beverage) on Veterans Day at participating locations with proof of service.

Buffalo Wild Wings: Ten free boneless wings and fries, dine-in only except for restaurants participating in Buffalo Wild Wings GO.

Bonefish Grill: Free bang bang shrimp appetizer and soft drink.

Carrabba's Italian Grill: Dine-in appetizer or dessert with the purchase of a soft drink.

IHOP: Free short stack of Red White and Blue pancakes.

Starbucks: A free hot or cold brew tall coffee for military service members and spouses.

Texas Roadhouse: Choose from a select menu for free lunch from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. including two sides and select beverages.
