Live at the Plaza began in 2015 as an idea to draw more people and events to downtown Tuscaloosa.

“I thought the community would embrace it,” said Matt Calderone in 2015, who spearheaded the Live a the Plaza concept when he served on the Tuscaloosa City Council.

“I thought we'd have 100 or so folks out there pretty constantly, but I was shocked to see it grow that fast. I think this thing is kind of growing organically,” Calderone said.
