Free parent workshop on gang awareness, prevention will be held this weekend

Nov. 1—A free parent workshop on gang awareness, prevention and intervention will be held in Aiken County this weekend.

The workshop called Parent Support Conversations will be held from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, at the Aiken County Recreation Center, 917 Jefferson Davis Highway, Graniteville.

The free workshop will address gang awareness, prevention and intervention, mental health and more, said Dominique Simpkins, parent coach/youth behavior specialist and owner of City of Refuge Youth Development Center.

There will be free refreshments, gang awareness information, engaging conversations, information on community and law enforcement relationships, and support services.
