Free pizza for a year: New Pizza Huts in Newport News and York County giving away free pies

Calling all pizza lovers: Two new Pizza Huts are opening on the Peninsula next month with first-come, first-serve giveaways.

National franchise operator Flynn Restaurant Group LLC is opening restaurants near Walmart in York County and in Warwick Center in the North Hilton area of Newport News.

In celebration, the owner of the franchises will give the first 25 customers in line free pizza for a year. The grand opening giveaway at the Pizza Hut at 2715 George Washington Memorial Highway in York County is Nov. 4 and the one at 10862 Warwick Blvd. in Newport News is Nov. 18.

Each winner will receive two specialty or two large pizzas (with up to three toppings) per month for a year totaling 24 free carryout pies.

Flynn Restaurant Group owns a variety of Pizza Huts throughout Hampton Roads, including Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Suffolk, Virginia Beach, Hampton, Newport News and Williamsburg. Nationally, the business operates more than 940 Pizza Huts in 27 states.

Randy Bates, Flynn’s vice president of marketing, said in a news release that they approach each new location as a community investment through job creation and philanthropic initiatives.

Each location, featuring Pizza Hut’s modern design, will add 15 jobs, including delivery drivers, cooks, shift leaders and managers.
