Free testing and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases and HIV will be provided at York City Hall on Tuesday, Sept. 26, according to a news release.

The City of York Bureau of Health has partnered with the Latino Connection and the Community Accessible Testing and Education Mobile Unit to provide the service, the release states.

"The goal of the STD program is to reduce the spread of STDs in the community of York," health bureau director Monica Kruger said in the release. “If we compare the STD diagnosis statistics in the City of York from 2021 (35%) to July 2023 (14.22%), we can notice a very significant reduction in infections thanks to these preventive and educational efforts, and we hope to continue reducing these percentages even further.”

The event will include "free and confidential testing, education and resources for all city residents," the release states.
