Freedom Plasma now open in Euclid

Oct. 11—Freedom Plasma hosted a ribbon cutting and tour of its new Euclid facility on Oct. 10,

Ronald Myles, director of center operations at the new location, 15609 Lake Shore Blvd., led the event. Among those attending were Dana Heil, executive director of the Euclid Chamber of Commerce, and Heidi Bixby-Goblirsch, executive director of the Greater Collinwood Development Corporation.

Freedom Plasma has stated the new facility is the only plasma donation location within a 4-mile radius of the Euclid area. Myles said that the donation of plasma can assist in treatments of a multitude of diseases, especially hemophilia due to the vital platelets in plasma that aid in clotting.

The facility stores the plasma in a state-of-the-art freezer.

"All equipment has to be temperature monitored," Myles said. "All of our storage containers and syringes we use are brand new, fresh out of the packages. We have enough equipment in our storage rooms for roughly 2,000 donations."

The facility has a biohazard waste room to dispose of hazardous materials,

Those who donate plasma will be compensated; the price will vary based on the individual's weight.

"We are so excited to be here and help so many people," Myles said. "It is a win-win for all of us to be here and be able to help people out and provide a life-saving service."
