Freeport Area Eats & Beats returns with food vendors, live music

A popular festival benefiting nonprofit organizations in the Freeport area returns later this week.

Here's what you need to know about the Freeport Area Eats & Beats festival:

When is the festival?

This year's festival is Aug. 25 and Aug. 26.

Where is the festival located?

The two-day event will be at the Freeport Arts Plaza located on the corner of East Douglas Street and North Chicago Avenue.

What are the hours of the event?

The event is from 5 to 10 p.m. both Friday and Saturday.

How much does the event cost?

Kids five and under get in free while admission for everyone else is $3.

Who is performing this year?

Friday night will feature Better Late Than Never and The Usual Suspects. Johnny Ringo & the Mojo Hands will play Saturday night, followed by Sunset Strip.

What kind of food will be there this year?

This year’s food lineup includes pulled pork, brisket, porkchop sandwiches, meatball skewers, hamburgers, hot dogs, walking tacos, cheese curds, cotton candy, snow cones, giant homemade cookies and more.

Where does the money go?

All the money raised at the event will go to nonprofits in the area. Last year, the event raised more than $11,000.
