After a freeze early Monday and near freezing temperatures expected Tuesday morning, it's expected to feel a lot more like the Sunshine State by the end of the week, according to the National Weather Service in Mobile, Alabama.

On Monday, Meteorologist Stephen Miller said it appears the current snap is behind us.

"We're expecting a warm up through the rest of the weekend into the weekend," Miller said. "We are expecting some weather to come through Friday night. We have about a 50-50 chance of showers and thunderstorms Friday night going into early Saturday. Temperature-wise, we're looking at a warm up from around the upper 50s today to around 80 by Thursday and basically staying that way through the weekend."

Miller said the cold weather this past weekend was unusual, but not unheard of. The normal low for the Pensacola area around this time of year is about 53 degrees, with highs around 73.

The record for the latest freezing temperature of the month was March 27, 1955, when it got down into the 20s, according to NWS data.
