FREMONT – Fremont Ross High School is putting on the "Means Girls" musical. The first performance is 7 p.m. Friday, March 24.

Additional performances are 7 p.m. Saturday, March 25, and 2 p.m. Sunday, March 26.

This will be the second play for the high school this school year, following "Hair Spray." The cast is made up of 28 high school students, three middle school students and two teachers who play teachers in the show.

“This show is so special because the students have gone above and beyond,” said Julia Zucker, director and choir teacher for Fremont Ross. “They have all taken responsibility and accountability in their roles and have formed bonds with each other that ares unbreakable.” This is Zucker's third musical with the high school.

"Mean Girls" features a cast of seniors that includes Taylor Peck, who plays Cady Heron, Eva Smith as Regina George and Jackson Smith, who plays Damian Hubbard.

Jackson Smith, who has been in musicals and plays his whole life, offered to choreograph the dances for the entire musical and plans to pursue musical theater after high school.

The musical was cast in December, and January and February were filled with rehearsals. The music will be provided by the Ross orchestra and an overlay for the music of the play.

"Mean Girls" is a story of a high school student who hits it off with the Plastics, the popular A-list girl clique at her new school. When she falls for the ex-boyfriend of the Plastics things take a turn for the worse.  The production of this play is based on the Broadway musical of the same name and is rated PG-13.

Tickets can be purchased online for $10 for adults and $5 dollars for seniors. For tickets visit fremontschools.net/schools/Ross-High-School/Event-Tickets.
