French chef sues Michelin guide over lost star

Celebrity chef Marc Veyrat is suing the world renowned Michelin guide.

It comes after his restaurant 'La Maison des Bois' in the French Alps lost one of his three Michelin stars in January.

Veyrat says a Michelin inspector falsely accused him of using English cheddar in a soufflé instead of traditional french cheese.

He told France Info in an interview that he would like to know the exact reasons behind the downgrading -adding that he had been dishonored and that the loss of the star led him into a depression.

The 69 year old chef had been awarded three stars, the highest award in the Michelin guide, in 2018.

The Michelen guide said in a statement in the New York Times that the chef's claims were baseless.
