Eddie Huang, producer and writer of ABC’s hit series “Fresh Off the Boat,” has a new project in the works at Showtime called “Panda.”
The hour-long drama series follows the titular character Panda, a gifted kid in Orlando, Florida, who begins to sell ecstasy during the late ‘90s when the craze for pressed pills kicked off. Panda finds help from Jade, a private school girl from the opposite side of town, and together, they climb their way to the top of the drug trade permeating the era’s rave scene.
Huang serves as writer and executive producer for “Panda,” according to Deadline. Showtime is producing the series along with Strong Baby Productions, with the latter’s Matt Dines and Jonah Hill as executive producers.
Huang made his directorial debut last year with “Boogie” following the end of the six-season long ABC sitcom based on his autobiographical book “Fresh Off the Boat: A Memoir.” The Taiwanese American multi-hyphenate is also a chef and TV personality, hosting cooking shows such as “Cheap Bites & Unique Eats” and “Huang’s World.”
