SECAUCUS, N.J. (AP) _ Freshpet Inc. (FRPT) on Monday reported second-quarter net income of $153,000, after reporting a loss in the same period a year earlier.

On a per-share basis, the Secaucus, New Jersey-based company said it had profit of less than 1 cent.

The average estimate of eight analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 5 cents per share.

The seller of refrigerated fresh pet food posted revenue of $80 million in the period, also surpassing Street forecasts. Six analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $77.2 million.

Freshpet shares have climbed 71% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Monday, shares hit $100.77, more than doubling in the last 12 months.
