Fresno firefighters respond to fourth fire in past 24 hours following blaze at apartment

Fresno Fire responded to its fourth structure fire in roughly the past 24 hours after a fire broke out Saturday night at a central Fresno apartment complex.

It happened at 9:42 p.m.

Fresno Fire crews were on scene near the intersection of Marks and Dakota avenues, and a third alarm was dispatched to 2640 W. Robinson Ave.

When crews arrived, they found that three apartments were heavily involved in the fire, but went in rescue mode because they were told people were trapped inside, Fresno Fire Battalion Chief Brian Price said. A search was done and no one was inside.

Price said the three apartments were badly damaged, displacing 17 adults and 13 children in seven units.

No injuries were reported. The Red Cross is assisting displaced residents.

The fire is under investigation, but Price said the fire might’ve started in the exterior of an apartment.
