Fresno man, 55, dies in ATV crash Wednesday afternoon
FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP — Shawn A. Murphy of Fresno died Wednesday afternoon in an ATV crash, according to the New Philadelphia Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred at 4:34 p.m. when Murphy was traveling northeast on Race Road and drove off the right side of the road. The vehicle he was driving hit a ditch, overturned and came to rest in the middle of the road.
Both Murphy and his 54-year-old passenger, also of Fresno, were thrown from the vehicle, a 2013 Can-Am Maverick XRS 1000R.
Murphy was pronounced dead at the scene.
His passenger was flown to Cleveland Clinic Akron General.
They were not wearing seat belts.
The crash is under investigation.
