Update: Fresno man killed in two-vehicle collision is identified by the coroner

A man was killed in a two-vehicle crash Thursday in Fresno County.

The crash happened at 11:10 a.m. at East Clarkson and South Bethel avenues.

California Highway Patrol spokesman Mike Salas said the 50-year-old Fresno man, identified by the coroner as Manuel Molina, was driving a Ford Fusion south on Bethel, approaching Clarkson while Vincent Nelson, 34, was driving a Chevrolet Silverado east on Clarkson, approaching Bethel.

The Ford driver failed to stop for the stop sign and went into the path of the approaching Chevrolet, Salas said. The Chevrolet struck the Ford on the passenger side as it traveled out-of-control and collided into a concrete barrier and utility pole.

Molina was taken to a Selma Hospital were he was pronounced dead. Nelson sustained minor injuries, Salas said.

Bethel is controlled by stop signs at the intersection with Clarkson having the right-of-way (not controlled by stop signs).

Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor. Both drivers were wearing seat belts.

The victim hasn’t been identified pending notification next of kin.
