Fricker's opens Allentown Rd. location

May 18—LIMA — A previously empty lot in front of the Allentown Road Walmart is now home to Fricker's Wings Sports Bar. The restaurant made its return to Lima Thursday morning, opening its doors to anyone ready to be served.

"We can't tell you how proud we are to be here with our owners and franchise owners," said Fricker's Marketing Manager Jim Manley. "It's a situation for us where we've been in business for over 35 years and it's a situation that we love benefiting communities that we're in. Today we're going to donate $500 to the Lima-area Boys and Girls Club on behalf of ownership and we think that that's just the tip of the iceberg."

The Lima franchise is owned by Travis Lawson and Scott Neth. Neth weighed in on the grand opening and their inspiration for bringing the restaurant to Lima.

"It really started about three years ago," said Neth. "We had this vision that we just wanted to bring something to life that was going to be really impactful in the community. Fricker's has that relationship with the community where they're constantly trying to do things, giving back — that was really important to us to continue that. We're in the city of Lima and it's important for us as well to be connected to this community."

Fricker's was previously located at 1448 N. Cable Rd. The location in Lima closed in 1999. The owners hope to bring new life to the community and create a space where residents can go after local sports games and preview their favorite teams on the in-house television screens. Neth said when people come to visit they will find value prices and a family environment.

"Our pricing is really competitive," said Neth. "Kids 10 and under eat free daily. We've got a game room for the kids as well. We got about 47 TVs in there. We've got four large TVs in the front so it's a really large screen. This would be your place to watch all your sporting events. You know, get the team together after a ball game. You know, any of those types of things.

"We've gotten such great support from our families, our friends, the community overall has been great. They've been talking to us every day. We're just really excited to be a part of this and just bring this to Lima, Ohio."
