Friday’s forecast: Cloudy and hot with afternoon storms possible

Friday’s forecast will see partly cloudy skies with temperatures in the mid-90s, with a heat index near 105.

In the afternoon, the chance of thunderstorms is about 40%.

This weekend, the hot weather continues with the chance of rain on Saturday and Sunday at about 50%.

Looking into next week, the wet weather continues with the potential for afternoon showers at around 50% with highs in the mid-90s.

On Thursday, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration released its updated forecast for the 2022 Atlantic hurricane season.

The update calls for 14 to 20 named storms, of which six to 10 could become hurricanes.

So far this season in the Atlantic, there have only been three named storms and no hurricanes.

The months of August through October are considered the peak season for hurricane development.

The Atlantic hurricane season ends Nov. 30.
