Friday storm delays Arkansas high school football playoff brackets

High school football teams moving their games to Saturday will cause a delay of the football playoff brackets until Sunday.

A storm system moving through Arkansas starting on Friday afternoon has the potential for local flooding in the Fort Smith area, and a tornado watch has been issued for most of the state.

According to Scorebooklive.com, the official site for the release of the 2022 brackets, those playoff pairings won't be available until Sunday afternoon.

As of 2:20 p.m. on Friday, the following games will be played on Saturday: Pea Ridge at Harrison; Farmington at Prairie Grove; Arkadelphia at Malvern; Magnet Cove at Glen Rose; Conway at Bryant; Mena at Waldron, Bismarck at Centerpoint.

Locally, the Mena-Waldron game has playoff implications, with the winner advancing to the first round to face Ozark (7-3) next week.

The threat of the storm system caused some schools to hold their games on Thursday, including Northside, Southside, Van Buren, and Ozark in Arkansas.
