FRIDAY'S GIRLS' BASKETBALL MATCHUPS

Cloverdale (4-3) at Edgewood (7-0)

GAME TIME: 6 p.m.

TWITTER: @amatricardiTM.

COACHES: J.J. Wade, 7-22 in 2nd year at Cloverdale. Gary Sims, 205-122 in 14th year at Edgewood.

LAST OUTING: Cloverdale lost to North Putnam, 56-33. Edgewood defeated Bloomfield, 43-41, OT.

SERIES LAST 15 YEARS: Edgewood, 4-2.

LAST MEETING: Edgewood, 60-19, Dec. 15, 2020.

OUTLOOK: The Clovers' three losses are all to North and South Putnam. The offense has been limited to 44 points or fewer each time out and oddly enough will face a group that has not given up more than 44. Forward Veronica Carter is a double-double threat for the Clovers. Mustangs are looking for a 4-0 start to Western Indiana Conference play heading into another league game on Saturday.

Southport (3-4) at Bloomington North (4-4)

GAME TIME: 7:30 p.m.

TWITTER: @JimGordillo.

COACHES: Adam Morelock, 28-69 in 5th year at Southport, 36-108 in 7th year overall. Jeff Turmail, 28-72 in 5th year at Bloomington North.

LAST OUTING: Southport defeated Perry Meridian, 36-24. Bloomington North lost to Columbus East, 59-42.

SERIES LAST 15 YEARS: Bloomington North, 10-8.

LAST MEETING: Bloomington North, 50-40, Dec. 4, 2020.

OUTLOOK: North will begin Conference Indiana play at home while the Cardinals are 0-2 with losses to Columbus North and Bloomington South. They haven't played since Nov. 23 and that win stopped a four-game losing skid. Top players are CeCe Mitchell (14 ppg, 8.4 rpg), Miranda Deane (10.6 ppg, 6 rpg, 3 spg) and Lela Scott (9 ppg, 7 rpg). Cards are averaging 14 steals per game so ball security will be key for the Cougars.

Terre Haute North (6-2) at Bloomington South (1-6)

GAME TIME: 7:30 p.m.

COACHES: Nathan Dillion, 6-2 in 1st year at TH North. Larry Winters, 314-181 in 23rd year at Bloomington South.

LAST OUTING: TH North lost to Mooresville, 52-33. Bloomington South lost to Seymour, 56-51.

SERIES LAST 15 YEARS: Bloomington South, 15-3.

LAST MEETING: Bloomington South, 54-45, Dec. 4, 2020.

OUTLOOK: Terre Haute North hits the road for its first CI game of the season, while South is 1-0. THN won a tourney in Illinois in between losing a shootout with Martinsville and getting slugged by Mooresville. A senior led team boasts 5-9 senior Zoe Stewart (24.7 ppg, 5 rpg) and 6-1 Halie Gilbert (11.4 ppg, 7 rpg). Panthers are coming off a season high 51-point outing and hope that production continues.
