Appleton West 14, Stevens Point 7

APPLETON - The Terrors led 14-0 early in the third quarter and then held off the Panthers.

Ezra Brown’s 37-yard interception return for a touchdown in the third quarter gave Appleton West a 14-0 lead.

SPASH answered with a 6-yard touchdown run by Braylon Smola on the next drive.

The Panthers were marching toward a potential tying touchdown late in the game, but West’s Ben Vallafskey intercepted a pass in the back of the end zone with 43 seconds remaining.

MENOMINEE -The Red Raiders scored four straight touchdowns to rally from a 30-22 deficit for the win.

Wisconsin Rapids got all of its offense on the ground, rushing for 429 yards.

Leo Brostowitz had 339 yards rushing and six touchdowns on 25 carries. Teal Lucas added 58 yards rushing on 12 carries.

Menominee finished with 449 yards of offense, 348 through the air and 101 on the ground.

Auburndale 20, Colby 14

COLBY - The Eagles scored on a 30-yard pass from Trayton Weber to Alex Wilfahrt with 5:02 left in the game to defeat the Hornets.

The win by Auburndale gives it a share of the Marawood Conference title along with Colby and Edgar.

Wilfahrt led Auburndale (8-1, 6-1) with 101 yards receiving on three catches. Weber had 16 rushes for 52 yards. Weber also completed 12-of-22 passes for 199 yards.

Colby (8-1, 6-1) was led by Caden Healy with 97 yards rushing on 19 carries. Ivan Haemor added 80 yards rushing on 12 carries.

Colby finished with 289 yards of offense but suffered three interceptions and lost two fumbles.

Auburndale had 310 yards of offense and no turnovers.

EDGAR - The Wildcats secured a shutout over the Red Raiders to improve to 8-1 overall and 6-1 in the Marawood Conference.

Avery Normington collected the only reception of the game for Edgar, but it went for 64 yards and a touchdown to open the scoring. Karter Butt followed with another big play in the first quarter on a 62-yard touchdown run to give the Wildcats an early 14-0 lead.

A pair of Kohlbe Weisenberger touchdown runs in the second quarter put away the game by halftime, with Jase Apfelbeck scoring in the fourth quarter on a 45-yard run to seal the win.

NEKOOSA - David Gauderman rushed for 247 yards and three touchdowns on eight carries in the Chargers’ win over the Papermakers.

Wittenberg-Birnamwood finished the regular season with an 8-1 record overall and 6-1 in the Central Wisconsin Conference-Large to finish tied with Stratford for first place.

Jonathan Wenzel was a workhorse for Nekoosa, carrying the ball 33 times for 184 yards.

Nekoosa finished with a 2-5 conference record and 2-7 overall.

IOLA - The Wolfpack rallied from a 24-18 deficit after three quarters with a pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns to defeat the Thunderbirds.

London Francois’ 4-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter was the winning score.

Iola-Scandinavia got touchdowns from Parker Gullixon on a 1-yard run, Mason Kraemer on a 6-yard pass from Gullixson, and Jayden Singh on a 3-yard run. Jackson Fredy added a 25-yard field goal.

PITTSVILLE - Marcus Getsinger rushed for 190 yards and two touchdowns, and Dylan Luther rushed for 168 yards and three touchdowns in the Panthers’ win.

Pittsville took the lead on the opening kickoff as Getsinger returned it 98 yards for a touchdown.

Pittsville finished with 439 yards of offense, while Abbotsford had 248 yards of offense.

Christian Fuentes led Abbotsford with 122 yards rushing on 12 carries.

CLINTONVILLE - Kade Rosenow threw four touchdown passes, Zach Spaulding rushed for 223 yards and the Truckers’ defense held the Hatchets to minus-1 yards rushing.

Jordan Wegener led Clintonville in receiving with five catches for 89 yards.

Clintonville finished with 244 yards rushing and 195 yards passing.

GIRLS TENNIS

WIAA State Tournament

MADISON - Ana Cristescu and Sophia Fergus of De Pere, and Keagan Potter and Kate Conger of Oshkosh West have advanced to the semifinals in Division 1 doubles at the state tournament at Nielsen Tennis Stadium.

Olivia Pethan of Fox Valley Lutheran has also advanced to the semifinals in Division 2 singles.

Cristescu and Fergus beat Tyra Gustavson and Molly Ryan of Madison West 6-1, 6-1 in the quarterfinals to advance, while Potter and Conger beat Brianna Cimoch and Hannah Carroll of Franklin 6-2, 4-6, 10-8 in a quarterfinal match.

The doubles semifinals will be played at 9:45 a.m. Saturday.

Pethan beat Aubrey Jayne of University School Milwaukee 6-1, 6-2 in a quarterfinal match.

The semifinals in Division 2 singles are scheduled for 9 a.m.
