Here are Friday's high school sports results for the Appleton area

BASEBALL

Hortonville 9, Neenah 2

HORTONVILLE - The Polar Bears opened with four runs in the first inning, tacked on another in the second, and finished with four more in the bottom sixth, while the Rockets managed a run in the second and fourth innings.

Camden Kuhnke, Joe Fischer, Turner Kuhnke and Nathan Vela each recorded two hits for Hortonville. Vela led the Polar Bears with four RBIs, finishing 2-for-3 with a double and a walk.

Payton Miller scored both runs for Neenah, going 1-for-2 with a walk at the plate.

Thomas Burns earned the win for Hortonville, pitching six strong innings only giving up six hits, a walk and two unearned runs while striking out 11.

Isaac Verbruggen took the loss for the Rockets, lasting one inning, giving up five hits, a walk and four runs.

Freedom 16, Reedsville 2

FREEDOM - Carson Clausen, Rowan Lonigro and Matt Wyngaard all had three RBIs to lead the Irish past the Panthers.

Clausen led the way with two doubles, while Corey Mathison and Lonigro had two hits as well.

Jack Vosters scored four runs for the Irish.

Drew Shepard pitched five innings of four-hit ball to earn the victory. He struck out four. With the win, the Irish improves to 4-1, while Reedsville drops to 1-3.

Denmark 17, Seymour 3

SEYMOUR - Denmark scored in every inning, including three runs in the first, two in the second, five in the third, five in the fourth and two in the fifth to beat the Thunder.

Ethan Ovsak powered the Vikings offense, going 4-for-4 with four runs scored and two RBIs. Also leading the way were Lucas Miller, who was 4-for-5 with six RBIs; Izaac Dittmer, who was 3-for-5 with two RBIs; and Nolan Perry, who was 2-for-2 with three runs scored and two RBIs.

Jaycob Dittmer pitched three innings for the win, allowing four hits and one run.

Brady Poch led Seymour by going 2-for-3, while Xavier Salzman had a home run and two RBIs.

Denmark moves to 6-1 with the win, while Seymour fell to 3-2.

Chilton 17, Ozaukee 7

FREDONIA - The Tigers scored in every inning, including five runs in the fourth inning and five in the fifth, in the five-inning nonconference win.

Ryan Pierquet was 3-for-4, including two doubles, and drove in seven runs for Chilton. Max Mueller and Ryan Lisowe added two hits each. Mueller had a triple.

Peyton Juckem pitched four innings to get the win. He allowed four hits, three runs (zero earned), walked three and struck out six.

Connor Rennicke had a double, an RBI and scored two runs for Ozaukee.

Shiocton 11, Princeville, Ill. 1

PRINCEVILLE, Ill. - Bennett Wilcox pitched a one-hitter while striking out eight to lead Shiocton to the win over the Princes.

The only hit Wilcox gave up was a one-out double in the third inning.

Wilcox aided his own cause, hitting a double and scoring three runs.

Bennett Schmidt also scored three runs for Shiocton and had a pair of hits.

SOFTBALL

Menasha 18, Oshkosh North 13

OSHKOSH - The Bluejays prevailed in a slugfest in nonconference play.

Menasha scored the first 12 runs of the game, but the Spartans closed to within 14-8 after five and 14-11 after six. After the Bluejays scored four times in the seventh, North scored twice in the bottom half before Menasha secured the win.

Maddie Zaves paced the Bluejays, going 4-for-5 with a triple, two homers and six RBIs, while Kylie Van De Loo was 3-for-3 with a double, a home run and five RBIs. Taylor Papendorf was 3-for-5, while Karly Helf was 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Anna Borst had the hot bat for the Spartans, going 3-for-4 with a double, a triple and five RBIs. Olivia Borowitz was 3-for-5 with a double and four RBIs. Getting two hits each for North were Emma Niemczyk, Lauren Geer, Morgan Kolodzik and Dori Butzlaff.

Luxemburg-Casco 1-2, Freedom 0-3

LUXEMBURG - The teams split the North Eastern Conference doubleheader, with Luxemburg-Casco winning the opener 1-0 and the Irish taking the nightcap 3-2 in 10 innings.

Savanah Jandrin pitched a one-hitter in the first game for the Spartans. Kylie Hanson drove in the only run with a double.

Paige Vande Loo took the loss on the mound for Freedom, while Saige Jarmolowicz had the only hit for the Irish.

In the second game, Vande Loo went the distance in the circle for the win. Maddie Smith was 2-for-3 and Riley Murphy was 3-for-5 for the Irish.

For the Spartans, Hanson was 3-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI, and Gracie Karr went 2-for-5.

Kiel 8, Hilbert 5

HILBERT - Addi Karls had three hits, including a triple, and drove in three runs to lead the Raiders to the win over the Wolves.

Emma Adleman and Aubri Freund both had two hits. Liz Neils had a double with two RBIs and Paige Wilkens had two RBIs for Kiel. Wilkens had three stolen bases and Kiel finished with eight as a team.

Freund got the win for Kiel. She allowed 11 hits over seven innings.
