FOOTBALL

Division 1

Kimberly 29, Neenah 28

NEENAH - Blake Barry’s 3-yard touchdown run with 1:18 remaining capped a wild comeback for the Papermakers in the win at Rocket Stadium.

The win advances Kimberly (10-1) to next Friday’s state quarterfinal at Waunakee (11-0).

Seth Miron was 11-of-12 with 229 yards passing, including touchdown strikes of 16 and 43 yards to Jaxson Garbisch. Miron also had a 19-yard touchdown run. Barry had 141 yards on 29 carries to lead the Papermakers rushing attack.

Evan Vanevenhoven was 12-of-13 for 160 yards passing for Neenah (9-2). He accounted for all four of the Rockets’ touchdowns, scoring on runs of 5 and 2 yards while also collecting a pair of 12-yard touchdown passes to Ethan Snider and Luke Keller, respectively.

HUDSON - The Lightning defense was stellar again, holding second-seeded Hudson to just 152 yards of total offense.

Appleton North (9-2) advances to play at Bay Port (11-0) next Friday in a state quarterfinal.

Caden Popp had a 45-yard field goal and also caught a 6-yard touchdown pass to lead North’s offense. Jeremy Nelson added a 1-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.

Luke Kritzer was 14-of-17 for 159 yards passing. Nelson led all rushers with 64 yards on 16 carries. Trent Mullen also had two catches for 86 yards for the Lightning.

Bay Port 35, Wausau West 14

SUAMICO - Cole Bensen threw for three touchdowns and Blake Buchinger carried 27 times for 150 yards and a touchdown as the Pirates erased an early deficit to roll to the second-round win.

Ray Reineck carried 20 times for 108 yards and a rushing score and added a 93-yard kickoff return for a touchdown to lead the Warriors.

Bay Port rolled up 498 total yards, while Wausau West had 227.

SLINGER - The Galloping Ghosts (7-4) defeated the Owls (8-3) to advance to the third round, where they will travel to Mequon to face the Homestead Highlanders (8-4).

Noah Hofmann ran 27 times for 307 yards and scored five rushing touchdowns for Kaukauna. Finnley Doriot added another touchdown on the ground for the Ghosts.

Mark Leidel had 10 catches for 111 yards and a touchdown to lead Slinger. Tanner Hora completed 12-of-22 passes for 130 yards, two interceptions and the touchdown to Leidel, while also rushing for a score.

Division 3

MENASHA - Christian Collins scored on runs of 8 and 59 yards and Ian Blom added an 80-yard touchdown run to lead the seventh-seeded Tritons past third-seeded Menasha at Calder Stadium.

Notre Dame (8-3) advances to play at top-seeded West Salem (10-1) next Friday.

Cole Calkins had a blocked punt return for a touchdown and AJ Korth had a 37-yard touchdown pass to Evan VanDynHoven for Menasha (9-2). Korth also had a 3-yard touchdown run.

Notre Dame’s defense forced a pair of interceptions in the first quarter as the Tritons led 13-0 after the first period.

MOSINEE - The Warriors took a 28-14 lead at halftime and advanced to the quarterfinals.

Keagan Jirschele scored four touchdowns for Mosinee - on a 40-yard interception return, and on touchdown receptions of 13, 5 and 14 yards.

Jirschele finished with 10 catches for 158 yards. Davin Stoffel caught seven passes for 88 yards for Mosinee.

Mosinee’s Gavin Obremski finished with 316 yards passing.

Cole Buttke led the Berlin attack, carrying 22 times for 93 yards.

KEWASKUM - Chase Matthias rushed for 155 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Purple Raiders past Kewaskum.

Two Rivers built a 21-0 lead before Kewaskum scored on a 62-yard pass.

The win moves the Purple Raiders to 11-0 on the season, while Kewaskum ends its season at 9-2.

LITTLE CHUTE - Charlie Vanden Burgt’s 1-yard touchdown run in the third quarter proved to be the deciding score for the Mustangs in the close win over the Hawks.

The win advances Little Chute to next Friday’s state quarterfinal matchup against North Eastern Conference rival Freedom.

AJ Seidler had a 21-yard field goal for Xavier, but the Hawks could only muster 92 yards of total offense.

Drew Joten had 85 yards rushing on 29 carries for Little Chute.

MAYVILLE - The top-seeded Cardinals shut out the Flying Dutchmen to advance to the third round, where they will host Racine Lutheran (8-3).

Mayville (11-0) outgained Oostburg 271-96 on the ground, with Blake Schraufnagel scoring on carries from 70 and 21 yards, respectively. Schraufnagel finished with 19 carries for 193 yards.

Payton Borchardt punched in a 3-yard touchdown run and Bradley Bushke reeled in a 21-yard pass for six from Adison Mittelstadt to help contribute on offense for the Cardinals.

Oostburg (7-4) was led by quarterback Donavan DePagter, who completed 6-of-16 passes for 48 yards while also carrying 12 times for 33 yards.

SAINT CROIX FALLS - The Hornets (10-1) shut out the Saints (9-2) to advance to the third round, where they will travel to La Crosse to face the Aquinas Blugolds (10-1).

Despite Saint Croix Falls gaining 15 first downs to Colby’s 10, and the two teams totalling the same amount of yards (307), the difference came in the turnover battle. The Hornets picked off Saints starting quarterback Jayden Adams three times, recovered a fumble and intercepted another pass from Saint Croix Falls’ backup QB.

Colby was led by Caden Healy with 13 carries for 105 yards and two touchdowns. Tevin Rue added nine carries for 101 yards and a touchdown for the Hornets.

Aiden Meador shouldered the bulk of the offense for the Saints, carrying 31 times for 160 yards.

Levi Huempfner ran for 121 yards on 22 carries with a pair of touchdowns. Jacob Holmes toted the ball twice for 28 yards, including a fourth-quarter touchdown run up the middle to seal the win.

Sam Lucas and Nolan Baudry each nabbed an interception for the Ledgers defense.

Coleman outgained Cedar Grove-Belgium 455-189, including a 409-22 edge in rushing yards.

The Cougars built a 26-0 halftime advantage before putting the game out of reach with a 20-point third quarter.

Second-seeded Shiocton (9-2) advances to play at top-seeded Cambria-Friesland in next Friday’s state quarterfinal.

Cade Stingle had touchdown runs of 13 and 5 yards and finished with 79 yards rushing for Shiocton, which also got 148 yards passing and a touchdown from quarterback Dawson Schmidt.
