BOYS SWIMMING

WIAA Division 2 State Championships

WAUKESHA - Zeb Schermacher’s second-place finish in diving led Plymouth to a seventh-place finish in the team standings at the state meet Friday at Waukesha South High School.

Dylan Norby of Menomonie won the diving with a score of 457.25. Schermacher, a junior, was second with a 383.35.

Rhinelander won the team title with 256 points. McFarland was second with 250.5 and Shorewood was third with 249. Plymouth in seventh and Ashwaubenon in ninth led area teams.

Senior Ben Coley of Plymouth placed third in the 100-yard freestyle in 47.79 seconds. Senior Forest Olsen of Plymouth placed fifth in the 50 freestyle in 21.73 seconds and he also placed fifth in the 100 butterfly in 52.77 seconds.

Evan Harrison of Two Rivers/Roncalli placed third in the 500 freestyle in 4:46.47. Andrew Hodek of Ashwaubenon was fourth in the 500 in 4:49.75.

SUAMICO - AJ Lieuwen poured in 18 points and Jayden Hackett added 15 as the Pirates outlasted the Redwings in Fox River Classic Conference action.

Bay Port jumped out to a 17-point halftime edge and outscored South 45-37 the rest of the way.

The Redwings were led by Zach Groh with 21 points and Matt Leonhard with 11.

SHEBOYGAN - John Kinziger scored 16 points as he surpassed the 2,000-point mark for his career as the Redbirds bounced the Golden Raiders in Fox River Classic Conference action.

Zach Kinziger also scored 16 points and Will Hornseth added 13.

De Pere took charge early, outscoring Sheboygan North 34-11 in the first 18 minutes.

Max Olsen led the Golden Raiders with 10 points.

Fisher MacKenzie added 17 points, Danny Griffith 15 and Cole Uhlenbrauck 10 for St. Mary Catholic.

The Zephyrs took a 44-34 halftime advantage before the teams played even the rest of the way.

Reedsville was paced by Zach Dvorachek with 28 points and Cam Dvorachek with 23.

Cedar Grove-Belgium had a chance to win the game at the end of the second overtime, but missed a shot at the buzzer.

Parker Knight led the Rockets with 18 points.

BRILLION - The Lions led by 18 points at halftime in the Eastern Wisconsin Conference win.

The EWC champions finish the regular season 14-0 in the league and are 20-4 overall.

Camden Hale made five 3-pointers and scored 15 points for Brillion. Megan Schuman added 14 and Amaya Brooks scored 12.

“We did a nice job of shooting the ball tonight against their 2-3 zone defense to get out to an early lead. We continued to play well throughout the game. We had a great team effort tonight,” Brillion coach Jeff Capelle said.

Two Rivers was led by Allyson Kakes with 32 points.

Julia Beeck led Sheboygan Falls with a game-high 16 points, including five 3-pointers. Addison Schliewe added 15 points and Makenzie Schroeder had 10 for the Falcons.

Grace Pribyl scored 15 points to lead Roncalli and Lauren Stangel followed with 13 for the Jets.

ASHWAUBENON - Sam Kappell, Joe Gerbitz, Joseph Coghlin and Mason Peapenburg each scored two goals to lead the Tritons to a Division 1 regional title.

Ian Noble, Ryker Thomas, Quinn Koszarek and James Flanigan also scored for Notre Dame. Drew Schock and Flanigan each had three assists.

Notre Dame goalie Lleyton Jaschke made four saves. Sheboygan goalie Zane Vande Hey made 45 saves.
