Here are Friday's high school sports results for the Wausau and Stevens Point area

SOFTBALL

Merrill 10, Wausau West 8

WAUSAU - Despite leading in hits, 11 to six, the Warriors fell to the Bluejays. Defensively, errors cost West three earned runs.

Ella Wendling had the start for West, throwing 3⅔ innings. Rachel Harder and Autumn Hughes both pitched in relief.

Addy Schmutzer had the start for Merrill and Mady Graap earned the win for the Bluejays.

Addie Heil, Baylen Hulstrom, Claire Calmes, Grace Huggenvik and Izzy Gullickston all went 2-for-3 at the plate for West and Calmes had three RBIs.

Assumption 7-7, Auburndale 1-8

WISCONSIN RAPIDS - The Royals and Eagles split a doubleheader.

Ava Schill won game one for Assumption after seven strong innings, giving up only two walks and the lone earned run allowed in the first inning along with five strikeouts.

The Royals responded right away with four runs in the first inning, then plated another in the fourth and two more in the sixth on seven total hits.

Macy Vollert went 2-for-4 with a two-RBI single in the first and Schill was 2-for-3 at the plate with a pair of runs scored for Assumption.

Ashlyn Grimm recorded the RBI single for Auburndale in the first and Mya Krings had a double for the Eagles.

Samantha Stanton took the loss for Auburndale, allowing a walk and five runs (four earned) over 3 1/3 innings.

Ashlyn Grimm pitched 2⅔ innings in relief, walking three batters and giving up two runs (one earned) with two strikeouts.

In game two, Assumption struck first with a run to open the game, but Auburndale came back to score four times in the bottom of the first and grabbed another run in the second.

The Royals then had their own four-run inning in the top of the third to tie the game 5-5. In the sixth, Assumption plated a pair to take a 7-5 lead, but the Eagles walked it off on a Samantha Stanton three-run home run in the bottom of the seventh.

Stanton finished 2-for-4 for Auburndale with two runs scored. Mya Krings went 2-for-4 with a double in the first inning and two runs scored. Erin Griesbach was 2-for-3 with a two-run home run in the first and also plated a pair of runs. Ashlyn Grimm scored twice to round out the Eagles.

Cristin Casey went 2-for-4 for the Royals with a double and two runs and Macy Vollert had two hits in three at-bats with a bases-clearing triple in the third.

Stanton earned the win for Auburndale after four innings of relief, walking two and giving up two runs with four strikeouts. Grimm started for the Eagles and pitched three innings, giving up three walks and five runs with one strikeout.

Ava Schill took the loss for Assumption, giving up the walk-off home run. Vollert started and threw two innings, allowing two walks, five runs (four earned) and striking out three. Arianna Cavanaugh pitched four innings of relief, giving up a walk and two runs (one earned) while striking out six batters.

BASEBALL

Wausau East 3, Pittsville 0

WAUSAU - The Lumberjacks scored twice in the first and once in the fifth to earn the nonconference win.

Kolton Abraham drove in a pair of runs for East, while Ryan Rodemeier picked up the win on the mound. He pitched 4⅓ innings, allowing four hits and four walks, while striking out eight.

Evan Haley had two hits for Pittsville.

Shiocton 8, Iola-Scandinavia 2

IOLA - Dawson Schmidt had three hits and drove in four runs, and Logan Ebben hit a two-run home run to lead Shiocton to the win over the Thunderbirds.

Bennett Schmidt and Sawyer Young both had two hits.

Young was the winning pitcher for Shiocton, which had 13 hits.

Iola-Scandinavia had just four hits.

GIRLS SOCCER

Medford 4, Wausau East 0

MEDFORD - The Raiders blanked the Lumberjacks to leave Wausau East with an 0-2-0 record.

Manawa won the girls team title with three individual first-place finishes and three firsts in the relays.

Manawa’s Marilyn Klatt won the 800-meter run (2:49.40), Olivia Santos won the discus (108-7) and Daisy Krueger won the triple jump (30-2). Manawa won the 800-, 1,600- and 3,200-meter relays.

Amherst, which finished second, got first-place finishes from Cassidy Kostuch in the 100 (:13.70) and long jump (14-3.5), Estella Brown in the 400-meter dash (1:10.78) and Lia Peterson in the 3,200-meter run (11:04.76).

Iola-Scandinavia’s Mckenzie Bonikowski won the 100-meter hurdles (:18.58).

Lily Stratman of Columbus Catholic won the 200-meter dash (:30.91). Aubrey Waldhauser won the high jump (4-9).

Northland Lutheran’s Isemina Rieth won the shot put (35-7.75).

In the boys meet, Amherst had five individual first-place finishes and swept the four relay events.

The Falcons’ first-place finishes came from Gunnar Wieraba in the discus (106-1), Otto Boelk in the 300-meter hurdles (:44.26), Max Voss in the 1,600-meter run (4:35.30), Cayden Wright in the 800-meter run (2:07.30) and Jacob Derezinski in the 100-meter dash (:11.39).

Manawa’s Drake Frasier won the 400-meter dash (:54.42).

Iola-Scandinavia’s Ian Koss won the 200-meter dash (:23.72) while teammate Jensen Rice won the 110-meter hurdles (:16.94). Weston Knorr won the shot put (36-10.25).

Columbus Catholic got a first-place finish from Isaac Scheer in the 3,200-meter run (10:06.84).

In the girls meet, Neillsville took first place in the 400- and 800-meter relays with Kaylee Lawrence taking first in the 100- and 200-meter dashes and the long jump, while Gabby Kuhn won the pole vault. Ava Miller had a second-place finish in the long jump. Gracie Schoengarth took second in the 100-meter hurdles. Kayleigh Kubisiak had a second-place finish in the 200 meters.

Auburndale’s Lilly Hasenohrl won the discus and also took second in the shot put

Nekoosa’s Kiara Campbell finished second in the high jump.

Isabel Britton of Adams-Friendship finished second in the discus.

In the boys meet, Auburndale won the 3,200-meter relay with Mason White Eagle winning the high jump. Adam Dorshorst took second in the shot put with teammate Lucas Yeske finishing second in the discus.

Neillsville’s Ashten Schultz took second in the high jump.

Nekoosa’s Adien Neduzak won the triple jump and finished second in the long jump. Teammate Jeremy Dye took second in the triple jump.

In the girls meet, Loyal won the title with first-place finishes from Sheila Tellock in the pole vault (8-9) and the 400-meter relay team (:52.56).

Wittenberg-Birnamwood’s Reese Rogowski won the long jump (17-1), the 100-meter dash (:12.49) and the 400-meter dash (:59.63) while Allison Linke won the 100-meter hurdles (:17.49) and the 300-meter hurdles (:50.77).

Rosholt’s Payton Skortz won the shot put (35-0.75). Rosholt’s 1,600-meter relay team took first.

Pacelli won the 800-meter relay and also got a first-place finish from Sophie Bablitch in the 3,200-meter run (10:54.89). Reagan Abel won the 200-meter dash (:27.22)

St. Mary Catholic got a first-place finish from Nolie Anderson in the discus (120-8) and Lauren Ripley in the 1,600-meter run (5:50.70). The Zephyrs also got a first-place finish from their 3.200-meter relay team.

Bonduel’s Ashley Kurey won the triple jump (31-1.25).

Suring’s Christian Sleeter won the high jump (5-0).

In the boys meet, Pacelli’s Adam Eiden won the 800-meter run (2:04.61) and the 1,600-meter run (4:35.09).

Rosholt’s Alex Wierzba won the 400-meter dash (:52.90). Teammate Jacob Ross took first in the 3,200-meter run (10:29.81). Charlie Lorbecki won the shot put (44-9.5) and the discus (141-11.5).

St. Mary Catholic won the 400- and 3,200-meter relays. Charlie Nackers won the high jump (5-6).

Dylan Comins of Lena/St. Thomas Aquinas Academy won the pole vault (9-6). His teammate Sidney Sylvester won the triple jump (38-0).
