Friday's HS roundup: Montplaisir, Slover lead Portsmouth girls past Merrimack

PORTSMOUTH - Bella Slover scored all 14 of her points in the first half and Savannah Emery scored 10 of her 12 points in the first 16 minutes as the Portsmouth High School girls basketball team started strong and never looked back on Friday in a 68-42 win over Merrimack at Stone Gymnasium.

Portsmouth improved to 6-1 in Division I, while Merrimack is 2-6.

Margaret Montplaisir scored a game-high 20 points for the Clippers, while Mackenzie Lombardi had eight.

Slover, Lombardi and Avery Romps starred defensively in the win. Madison McCaffery led Merrimack with 18.

DOVER - Tory Vitko and Lilly Nossiff each had 14 points as Dover improved to 6-2 with this Division I win.

Riley Kerens led Winnacunnet (1-7) with 18 points, Marisa Reuss had nine.

NORTH CONWAY - Vivian O’Quinn led Oyster River (6-2) with 11 points in this Division II loss. Teammates Caitlin Klein and Abby Deane scored 10 and eight points, respectively.

YORK, Maine - Freshman Nya Avery had 12 points and 10 rebounds for York (2-7) in this Class B South loss. Ava Brent added six points for the Wildcats.

Sophia Ippolito led Greely with 15 points.

DOVER - Junior Elizabeth Flynn and sophomore Genna Bolduc both had eight points for St. Thomas Aquinas (5-3) in this Division III win. Bolduc added 11 rebounds. It was the third straight win for the Saints.

St. Thomas freshman Emma Torrielllo added six points.

GROVETON - Freshman Amaya Beckles had a team-high 13 points in this Division IV loss for the Mules. Teammate Lena Nicholson had nine points.

FREEPORT, Maine - Ellie Leech turned in a quadruple-double for Seacoast Christian in this Class D South win, scoring 24 points, grabbing 11 rebounds, coming up with 12 steals, and dishing out 10 assists.

Seacoast's Breckyn Winship had game-high 28 points and 15 rebounds.

FREEPORT, Maine - Sunny Johnson's game-high 21 points led Seacoast Christian to this Class D South win. Johnson also had seven rebounds, six steals and three assists.

Seth Vega added 11 points and five steals for the Guardians, while Eli Cardinal had 10 points.

DURHAM - Mason Tatarian led Oyster River (2-6) with 15 points in this Division II loss. Julian O’Quinn and Brady Luczek had 13 and 11 points, respectively for the Bobcats.

FALMOUTH, Maine - Jason Singer scored his only basket of the game with 30 seconds left to give the Hawks the lead 44-43. Michael Burbank seal the win with a defensive rebound on the next possession and Marshwood (7-2) knocked off Falmouth (8-2), the top team in Class A South.

Marshwood's Andrew Perry led all scorers with 18, while Cooper Aiguier had 13 and David Lane chipped in with seven.

MERRIMACK - Matthew Minckler had 18 points and Miles De Iongh had 10 for Portsmouth (4-2) in this Division I win.

BOYS HOCKEY

Keene 1

EXETER - Exeter's Cam Snee, assisted by Cam Keaveney, netted the game-winning goal with 2:27 left in regulation in this Division I win at The Rinks.

Brian Najjar, assisted by Nolan Deacy and Matt Wallace tied the game at 1-1 for the Blue Hawks early in the third period.

Exeter goalie Charlie Mozina had 20 saves.
