Friday's Top Prep Performers from baseball, softball and lacrosse

Highlights from Friday in high school spring sports:

BASEBALL

  • Jacob Roa pitched a two-hit shutout with 10 strikeouts to lead Rio Mesa to a 1-0 victory over Dos Pueblos in a Channel League game. Roa, a junior, is 5-1 with a 1.13 ERA this season for the Spartans (10-1-1, 5-5).

  • Wylan Nelson went 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI and struck out five in five innings to earn the win on the mound, Josh Woodworth was 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI, Finn Hoover finished 2 for 4 with two RBIs, and Mark Moseley was 1 for 2 with two RBIs to lead Ventura (10-13, 3-7) to a 6-4 win over Oxnard in a Channel League game. Ian Contreras was 2 for 4 with an RBI, Gavin Marin went 1 for 2 with two RBIs, and Joseph Ortiz had a hit and an RBI for the Yellowjackets (9-10, 2-8).

  • Devon Wilkes finished 2 for 4 with a triple and two RBIs, Arty Menchaca went 2 for 3, and Sergio Ruiz was 1 for 3 with an RBI for Pacifica (7-11, 2-8) in its 15-5 loss to San Marcos in a Channel League game.

  • Gavin Morales went 2 for 3 with a triple and two RBIs, Tanner Beltowski was 2 for 3 with an RBI double, and Ty Weeks struck out six in five innings for Buena (15-7, 7-3) in its 4-3 loss to Santa Barbara in a Channel League game.

  • Danny Aguilera went 3 for 4 with a double, triple and three RBIs, Tommy Goodin was 3 for 4 with three RBIs, Matt Martinez finished 2 for 4 with two doubles and three RBIs, Logan Miller was 3 for 3 with a double and an RBI, Brandon Contreras went 3 for 5, Blake Uribe was 1 for 1 with two RBIs, and Jacob Tostado went 2 for 4 with an RBI to lead Camarillo to a 16-4 win over Oak Park in a Coastal Canyon League game.

  • Trevor Hansen allowed one hit and no earned runs in five innings and went 1 for 3 with a double and five RBIs, Ryan Yofan and Rider Gordon each went 1 for 3 with an RBI, Daniel Asplund was 1 for 1 with an RBI, and Zachary Nagy was 1 for 4 with an RBI to lead Royal (12-4, 7-2) to a 10-6 victory over Moorpark in a Coastal Canyon League game. Taylor Busch and Greg Lareva each had a double and an RBI and Rylan Stillwagon was 1 for 3 with an RBI for the Musketeers (12-9, 3-4).

  • Mathew Magaña went 2 for 2 and scored the go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth to lead Fillmore (9-10, 7-7) to a 2-0 victory over Nordhoff in a Citrus Coast League game. Swift Dillard went 2 for 3 for the Rangers.

  • Tyler Field was 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI, Sam Wesner went 1 for 1 with a double, and Cameron Fausset pitched four hitless innings with five strikeouts for Newbury Park (15-6) in its 5-2 loss to Righetti at the Paso Robles Spring Break Tournament.

SOFTBALL

  • Oaks Christian defeated Oxnard 7-1 and Lompoc 5-1 at the Righetti Best of the West tournament to improve to 20-0-1 on the season. Against Oxnard, Justine Lambert was 3 for 4 with a triple and an RBI, Anahi Arreola went 3 for 3 with an RBI, Terrianna Kelley had a hit and two RBIs, Rylee McCoy was 1 for 1 with two walks and an RBI, Heaven Oliva finished 2 for 3 with an RBI, and Emelia Davis struck out 13 while allowing just two hits in a complete-game effort in the circle. Against Lompoc, Ilove’a Brittingham was 3 for 3 with two RBIs, Kamryn Guthrie had a double and two RBIs, Liesl Osteen went 2 for 3, McCoy was 1 for 3 with an RBI, Oliva went 1 for 2 with a walk, Paityn Lavin allowed one hit in four innings, and Davis allowed one hit in three innings.

  • Oxnard lost to Golden Valley 7-6 and Oaks Christian 7-1 at the Righetti Best of the West tournament. Against Golden Valley, KaLeena Gonzales hit a two-run home run, Lexi Gutierrez was 2 for 3 with two RBIs, and Natalie Rodarte went 3 for 4 with an RBI. Against Oaks Christian, Gonzales hit a solo homer for the Yellowjackets (9-6).

  • Kadyn Sánchez struck out nine in the circle and went 2 for 3 with a double at the plate, Bela Nava was 2 for 3 with a double, Yazmin Wiggins was 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI, Abriele Ramirez had a two-run triple, and Aleh Martinez finished with two RBIs to lead Santa Clara (8-4, 4-1) to a 6-3 win over Foothill Tech in a Tri-Valley League game.

GIRLS LACROSSE

  • Royal defeated Glendale 19-11 to improve to 8-3 on the season.
