May 8—The McGinnis family will host a celebration of the life of Kinsey Lane McGinnis on Tuesday at 5 p.m. at Jacksonville State University's Pete Mathews Coliseum.

Kinsey McGinnis, the daughter of Jacksonville State softball coach Jana McGinnis, died Sunday at age 26 at Atrium Health Floyd Medical Center in Rome, Ga. An announcement from the university said all friends and family are welcome to attend and that the McGinnis family "would love to visit with friends following the ceremony."

Uncle Mackie Sides, cousin Riley Austin, cousin Dawson Broome, uncle Ricky Austin and cousin Cooper Austin are scheduled to speak.

A private committal service will be held Wednesday.

Kinsey was born Dec. 16, 1996, and spent her whole life in Spring Garden. She is considered a graduate of Spring Garden High School.

According to her obituary, "She lived a full and happy life for 26 years despite being born with a rare condition called Lissencephaly. She was part of the Piedmont Church of Christ family, attended many Spring Garden High School games and JSU softball games, enjoyed trips to the beach and Disney World and was a recipient of the Make-A-Wish Foundation."

Survivors include her parents, Jana and Russ McGinnis of Spring Garden; one sister, Payton McGinnis Rogers (Dylan) of Spring Garden; nephew, Beckham Rogers of Spring Garden; grandparents, Linda and Elbert Bright and Diane and Terry McGinnis all of Spring Garden; aunts and uncles, Mackie and Melanie Sides, Ricky and Dana Austin, Rodney and Audra Broome and Scott and Susan McGinnis all of Spring Garden; and several cousins, Jordan Sides, Madison Sides, Dawson Broome (Keri Ann), Riley Austin (Shaley), A.J. Broome, Cooper Austin (Libby) and Ace Austin. Pallbearers will be Mackie Sides, Riley Austin, Dawson Broome, Ricky Austin, Cooper Austin, Rodney Broome, Scott McGinnis and Dylan Rogers.

Kinsey was preceded in death by her great grandparents, Luke and Betty Welsh and Bill and Bonnie Fagan.

According to her obituary, flowers would be appreciated but the family suggest memorial contributions to the Ronald McDonald House, 1700 Fourth Avenue South, Birmingham, AL 35233.
