Friends actor David Schwimmer has paid tribute to his late co-star Matthew Perry, following his death at the age of 54.

News of Perry’s death was confirmed last month and at the time his Friends co-stars released an emotional joint statement.

Now, the cast of the hit 90s sitcom have begun sharing individual tributes to the late actor, and Schwimmer chose to remember his friend and former colleague with a throwback photo on Instagram.

Schwimmer posted a shot of himself and Perry dressed in their iconic 80s suits from a flashback in Season 5’s The One with All the Thanksgivings.

"Matty, thank you for ten incredible years of laughter and creativity," he captioned the image. "I will never forget your impeccable comic timing and delivery. You could take a straight line of dialogue and bend it to your will, resulting in something so entirely original and unexpectedly funny it still astonishes.

"And you had heart. Which you were generous with, and shared with us, so we could create a family out of six strangers.

"This photo is from one of my favorite moments with you. Now it makes me smile and grieve at the same time. I imagine you up there, somewhere, in the same white suit, hands in your pockets, looking around – 'Could there BE any more clouds?'"

Schwimmer isn’t the only Friends star to have shared a special tribute to Perry in recent days as Courteney Cox, Matt LeBlanc and Jennifer Aniston have all written heartfelt messages about their late co-star.

Both Warner Bros and NBC, which produced and aired Friends respectively, also paid tribute to the late star.

"We are devastated by the passing of our dear friend Matthew Perry," read the Warner Bros statement. "Matthew was an incredibly gifted actor and an indelible part of the Warner Bros. Television Group family."

"We are incredibly saddened by the too soon passing of Matthew Perry," read a statement from Friends' broadcaster NBC.

News of Perry's death broke on October 28, with reports confirming he'd been found unresponsive at his California home.
