Jul. 2—Hundley, Nye post career-best rounds

Ryan Hundley of Red Springs shot a career-low round 71 Sunday at Cypress Lakes in Hope Mills. Hundley has only been playing golf for 2 1/2 years.

Robbie Nye shot his career-best round with a 77 Monday at Pinecrest Country Club in Lumberton, including an even-par 36 on the back nine. Nye played with James Haas.

Pinecrest Senior Shootout

Lonail Locklear and LeMark Harris were the winners of this week's Senior Shootout at Pinecrest Country Club with a round of 61, finishing one stroke ahead of Greg Dial and Kent Chavis, who won a scorecard playoff for second place.

First-flight winners were Joe Locklear and Ted Williams with a 72, winning a scorecard playoff over Pandora Carter and Al Wall.

Closest to the flag winners were Lonaio Locklear, Wayne Beasley and LeMark Harris.

The next Pinecrest Senior Shootout will be played Thursday with a 10 a.m. shotgun start.

Fairmont Golf Club news

Nick Lowry, Ryan Hudley, Kevin Newberry and Tommy Britt were the winners in this week's Thursday Evening Scramble with a one-stroke victory over Jeff Broadwell, Allen Campbell, Ryan Bass and Justin Britt. Chris Barfield, Donald Arnette, Butch Lennon and David Rogers were the winners of the second flight.

Ronnie Cox and Scott Campbell were closest to the pin winners.

The next Thursday Evening Scramble will be played on Thursday, July 14 with a 6 p.m. shotgun start.

Knocky Thorndyke and John Haskins were the winners in this week's Senior Shootout with a one-stroke victory over Carlis Bryant and Tim Chavis. Jerry Stubbs and Randy Graham were the second-flight winners with Keith Cox and Robert Rotan taking second. The third flight was won by Tommy Belch and James Humphrey followed by Rick Baxley and Clifton Rich who came in second. Al Almond, DJ Jones, John Haskins and Robert Rotan were closest to the pin winners.

The next Senior Shootout will be played this Tuesday morning with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
