Froebe broke the previous Illinois High School Association state tournament single-game scoring record of 41 points, set by East St. Louis Lincoln’s Tina Hutchinson in 1983. It also beats the Class 3A state tournament record of 30 points, set by Nazareth’s Annie Stritzel in the 2019 3A third-place game over Sacred Heart-Griffin.

Froebe said she thought the bigger court of Illinois State University might limit her potential.

“It’s going to be harder to push the ball, which is something I would thrive on,” Froebe said. “Our press, we had to scoot back so I didn’t know how many fast breaks I would get — which is something I thrive on. Today to come out and score 76 points (as a team) was amazing.”

“She’s good. She got her open looks, she hit shots,” Keith said. “It’s tough. We feel like we’re such a good team and they have one girl. And it’s not to take away from the rest of the girls on their team but (Froebe) scored almost 50 points. That’s incredible.

Nikki Kerstein and Aubrey Galvan each had 16 to lead Deerfield. Lexi Kerstein added 12.
