Frosty Freeze Out no more: 76ers ditch Wendy's for Chick-fil-A 'Bricken for Chicken' promo

Sad news Philadelphia 76ers fans — those second-half missed free throws by opponents will no longer earn you a free frosty at Wendy's.

But good news for chicken lovers: Chick-fil-A is here to fill the void.

The Sixers announced Thursday that the fan favorite Frosty Freeze Out promotion will soon be replaced by a partnership with the popular southern chicken takeout restaurant called "Bricken for Chicken."

Here's how it works:

How Bricken for a Chicken works

Fans will receive 5-count Chick-fil-A nuggets the first time an opposing player misses two consecutive free throws in the second half.

The second time an opposing player misses two consecutive free throws in the second half, fans will receive 8-count Chick-fil-A nuggets.

The offer is valid to all fans in-market, whether you watched the game from the arena or from your home.

Where to redeem your free Chick-fil-A

The offer can be claimed by opening the Chick-fil-A app after the game in the greater Philadelphia area until 10:30 a.m. the next business day. Once the offer is claimed, it can be redeemed by scanning the Chick-fil-A app or by placing a mobile order via the app within three days of the qualifying game.

After hearing the news, the first thing on the minds of of Sixers fans: When is Ben Simmons coming back to town?

The former Sixers guard left unceremoniously after a forgettable playoff series against the Atlanta Hawks in 2021. Much of his problems came at three free throw line, where he shot only 34.2 percent against the Washington Wizards and Hawks.

He will make his regular season return with the New York Nets at the Wells Fargo Center on Tuesday, Nov. 22.

The Nets will be back in South Philly on Wednesday, Jan. 25.

Simmons made his debut with the Nets in Philly on Oct. 3 in a 127-108 preseason victory by the Sixers.
