Fruita Basketball starts 2024 right where they left off

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — Colorado’s top-ranked high school basketball team just keeps on rolling.

In what was somehow their home opener, Fruita had no trouble with Centauri, cruising to a 71-36 win and a perfect 11-0 record. Fruita will be back at home Saturday to take on Chatfield.

Meanwhile, in Palisade, the Bulldogs fell in heart-breaking fashion 56-54 to the Summit Tigers, after Fred Moore’s tip-in attempt came inches away as the buzzer sounded. With the loss, Palisade falls to 5-6. The Lady Bulldogs did get a win, as the Girls took down Summit 53-38 to get to 8 and 3. Both the girls’ and boys’ teams will be in Rifle Saturday to battle the Bears.
