Fry's Fuel Points will soon no longer be accepted at Circle K. Here's what we know

For drivers filling up at their local Circle K and wanting to use their local grocer's Fry’s Fuel Points, time is running out before the discounts are gone.

Reddit users on r/phoenix noticed a message on Fry’s website advising of new rules.

Fry's, a Kroger-owned grocery chain, updated their fuel points program website with a message that reads: “As of 8/31/2023, Fry’s Fuel Points will no longer be redeemable at Circle K locations. Instead, visit a Fry’s Fuel Center or participating Shell Fuel station near you to redeem your fuel points."

How long has the program been active?

The program has been running for about 10 years and is a partnership between Tolleson-based Fry’s, Shell and Tempe-based Circle K.

As of Aug. 31, the partnership will only involve Fry's and Shell.

How do Fry’s Fuel Points work?

These points are earned by shoppers at Fry’s Food Stores where a dollar's worth of groceries is equivalent to one fuel point. Shoppers are able to save 10 cents per gallon for every 100 fuel points. Customers can redeem up to 1,000 points to save $1 per gallon.

In Phoenix, there are 161 Circle K stores across the Valley.

A spokesperson for Fry’s Food Stores said customers could still redeem fuel points at other locations.

“Customers are invited to redeem their fuel points at any of our 100 convenient fuel centers or at participating Shell stations,” Pam Giannonatti, spokesperson for Fry’s said in an emailed statement. “We know customers count on fuel rewards to fill their tanks for less, and we’re happy to continue offering the program throughout our region.”
