Audiences want to hear more music from the 1970s. Florida Studio Theatre’s cabaret hit “The ‘70s: More Than a Decade,” will close on Feb. 12 after a 19-week run of nine performances a week, but will return a few weeks later for an encore run.

The show, created by Rebecca Hopkins, Richard Hopkins and Sarah Durham, with musical arrangements by Jim Prosser, will return in the larger Keating Theatre March 8-19.

“The audience’s response has been phenomenal – they have connected to this show on every level,” Rebecca Hopkins said. “This cabaret will go down as one of my personal favorites and I know I’m not alone.”

Directed by Catherine Randazzo, the production explores the often tumultuous decade through a range of popular music of the period, with hits by The Who, Captain and Tennille, the Bee Gees, Queen and some TV theme songs. The production opened in October with a cast that features Eddie Weaver, Brianna Barnes, Michael James Byrne and Jannie Jones. Weaver and Jones will be featured in the extended run.
