FSU OL Andrew Boselli, son of Jaguars legend Tony Boselli, says he had coronavirus, too

Tony Boselli was not the only member of his family who contracted the COVID-19 coronavirus.
In an essay for Florida State’s website, Seminoles offensive lineman Andrew Boselli revealed Friday that he, too, got the coronavirus and has recovered. And he implored people to take social distancing measures and the severity of the virus seriously.
Andrew Boselli said on FSU’s site that he had a “mild” case of coronavirus but that he still experienced significant shortness of breath during his three days of symptoms. He took a coronavirus test on March 21 and found out he had tested positive a few days later. But his symptoms emerged in the interim, so by the time he got the test results back he already figured that he had the virus.

His dad, the former Jaguars All-Pro offensive lineman, has previously said the coronavirus “buried me.” Tony Boselli was hospitalized in intensive care because of the virus, and Andrew wrote about his dad’s time in the hospital. Tony Boselli was first admitted to the hospital after scans showed that he had fluid in his lungs.
He was examined after he started feeling poorly after a round of golf on March 16 and after he discovered that someone he had been in contact with was diagnosed with the virus. All four members of the Boselli family ended up contracting it.
He was given oxygen and some prescribed medications, but the doctors said that if his condition didn’t improve, then he would need to be placed on a ventilator.
In the span of a week, I went from not really taking this virus seriously to realizing that I could lose my father.
I’m so grateful that it never came to that. My dad improved after three days and was moved out of the ICU. Then, after two more days in the hospital, he was discharged and sent home.
Andrew termed his family’s journey with the virus as a “wakeup call” and admitted that social distancing was hard. But he also emphasized, like all of our leading health experts, that it’s the way that we can all do our part to help slow the spread of the virus.
Andrew Boselli, 22, is a redshirt senior in 2020. He played in 10 games with two starts in 2019 under former coach Willie Taggart.
