Fuel spills onto I-95 in Westport after crash between two tractor-trailers

One driver was injured in a crash between two tractor-trailers on Interstate 95 South in Westport on Tuesday night, according to the Westport Fire Department.

Fire personnel responded to I-95 near Exits 17 and 18 for a reported tractor-trailer crash before midnight Tuesday. Responders found one of the tractor-trailers had jack-knifed and had a ruptured fuel tank with fuel spilling out onto the roadway, fire officials said.

The driver of one of the trucks was injured in the crash. They were treated on the scene before being transported to an area hospital. The extent of their injuries is unknown, fire officials said.

The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection responded to the crash site to help clean up the fuel spill, fire officials said.
