Fuhrer announces reelection bid for Yuba County supervisor seat

Oct. 6—Yuba County District 3 Supervisor Seth Fuhrer announced that he will be seeking to keep his seat on the Yuba County Board of Supervisors — a position that covers all of Olivehurst and a portion of Linda — in the upcoming primary election on March 5, 2024.

Fuhrer, a graduate of Lindhurst High School and UC Davis, owns Nickell Tax & Financial Planning in Marysville with his wife, Stephani. He has a Juris Doctor degree from McGeorge School of Law and is an enrolled agent with the IRS and a real estate broker.

"My campaign slogan in 2020 was 'We Can Do Better' and I believe we are. Our community has seen forward movement in the past few years, but there's always more to do, which drives me to continue our good work," Fuhrer said in a statement. "We have seen visible improvements with the new Costco building neighboring our district and with the opening of the Olivehurst Food Center. We have stepped up our code enforcement activity and will continue to do so and I'm proud to have worked for the past three years to get grant funding of over $60 million for sidewalks, storm water drainage and to improve our parks in Yuba County's economically depressed areas. I also pushed for improvement grant funding for our youth's Little League fields and the Olivehurst Community Pool."

Along with his role as supervisor, Fuhrer also serves on the boards of Yuba Water Agency, the Yuba-Sutter Transit Authority, the Feather River Air Quality Management District, the Yuba-Sutter Food Bank, the Sutter Yuba Homeless Consortium and the Olivehurst Task Force.

Fuhrer said he has "committed significant time and energy" to the reduction of homelessness in the community by providing affordable housing opportunities in Yuba County. He is a past president of the Habitat for Humanity Yuba-Sutter board and said he coordinated with the nonprofit to open Prosperity Village, a low-income housing facility in Linda.

In his continued efforts to address homelessness, Fuhrer also has served on the advisory board for the Salvation Army, worked with Joshua House on transitional housing, assisted with the opening of 14 Forward, and worked with Twin Cities Rescue Mission.

Fuhrer also is a member of the Marysville Kiwanis club, which provides college scholarships for area youth. He said he actively participates in the Bringing Up GradeS (BUGS) program, where at-risk students in middle school are incentivized to improve academically.

Fuhrer said he is "committed" to government transparency and fiscal responsibility, encouraging members of the public to be informed and involved in their local government. He said he supported the slashing of Three Rivers Levee Improvement Authority's community facilities district tax assessment and impact fees by as much as 50%.

"I made it my goal to be responsive to all my constituents and I believe I have done so. I also voted against the bloated budget of 2022 and voted for the reduced budget of 2023 which saw overall spending cuts," Fuhrer said. "Most recently in September, we did the Olivehurst Clean-up at the Yuba County Airport and held the 'Let's Go Youth Rally' at the Olivehurst Community Park which promoted good mental health for our local teenagers. My commitment to bettering the Olivehurst/Linda area remains unwavering and I would be proud to serve as your Supervisor once again."

Fuhrer and his wife Stephani have been married for 30 years and have three children. To speak with Fuhrer or ask questions, email him at seth4yubacospvr3@gmail.com.
