Fulton boys basketball wins TSSAA state championship, first since 2016

MURFREESBORO – Knoxville Fulton blistered the nets and routed Haywood 82-52 for the program's fourth TSSAA boys basketball state championship and first since 2016.

Fulton shot 64.8% for the game and was 8-of-14 from the 3-point line to blow out the Tomcats in the Class 3A title game.

Fulton (32-5) placed four players in double figures. Taj Kimber led the way with 26 points on 12-of-13 shooting. He also dished out three assists. Teammate Tyler Lee — the Class 3A tournament's MVP — had 17 points and was 7-of-8 from the field. He also had seven rebounds. Kenaj Kimber, Taj's twin brother, had 14 points and Class 4A Mr. Football winner Marcellus Jackson added 12 points.

Tylon Chatman led Haywood (30-6) with a game-high 32 points. The Class 3A Mr. Basketball finalist was 12-of-28 from the field and hit five 3-pointers.

Fulton was hitting from the opening minutes. The Falcons hit 18-of-25 from the field (72%) and was 7-of-10 from the 3-point line.
