Mount Pulaski Public Library Family Movie Night

Details: Join the fun as Mount Pulaski Library hosts Family Movie Nights. Watch “Sing 2” and see if Buster Moon, played by Matthew McConaughey,  and his friends must persuade reclusive rock star Clay Calloway, played by U2 singer Bono, to join them for the opening of a new show. Popcorn and water will be available. Feel free to bring snacks and drinks with lids.

Where: Mason City Limits, 114 E. Chestnut St., Mason City

Details: Zany is known for his weekly segment The Zany Report on nationally syndicated radio program The Bob & Tom Show. During his live set, Zany prefers to let the audience steer the boat. "I always say I have a beginning and an end, and in the middle I let the audience take me wherever they take me," he said. Tickets are $21 and $23. Market Day and Christmas in July in Atlanta

When: from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 23 and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 24.

Where: on Arch Street between Race and Vine Streets and inside Union Hall and the Welcome Center, located at 112SW Arch Street.

Details: The City of Atlanta, Illinois will celebrate Christmas in July in conjunction with the Market Weekend on Route 66 this weekend. Thirty-eight vendors selling a variety of items from baked goods to dog bandanas to knitted goods to candles to t-shirts, you name it. Also Cheesed OUT food truck and Top Hat Creamery’s mobile cart will be at the market. The Atlanta Public Library will be running lawn games Saturday during market hours. Free to attend and parking is available in the Atlanta Public Library lot and Post Office lot.

Talona Marten Backpack Drive for Logan County

When: 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 23

Where: VFW parking lot, 915 5th Street, Lincoln

Details: Community Backpack Drive Project in honor of Talona Marten. As a way to honor her memory and her love of children a group of friends started this tradition and have received enough backpacks and monetary donations to provide more than 700 backpacks filled with school supplies to children and families in need throughout the community. Drop by a backpack filled with school supplies and the backpacks will be distributed to children in need within the community. Donated backpacks will be available for families in need to be picked up from 10 a.m. until noon Saturday July 30 (or until all backpacks are picked up) at the VFW parking lot. Help the group make this event an even bigger success than last year.
