Funeral Held of White Helmets Citizen Journalist Killed in Khan Sheikhoun Airstrike

A citizen journalist, Anas al-Dyab, who was in his early twenties and had been working with the White Helmets, was one of several killed in aerial bombardments of Khan Sheikhun on Sunday, July 21, according to reports.

Al-Dyab had worked as a photographer and rescue worker with the group, documenting the plight of civilians on the ground in Syria.

The Syrian government, backed by Russia, has been bombarding Khan Sheikhun and al-Dyab was killed while hiding out in the basement of a building, according to local reports.
