Funeral for NYC police officer followed by 'hero's salute' in Westchester for burial
Police departments from Westchester County honored slain New York City police officer Jason Rivera on Friday before he was laid to rest in Hartsdale.
Westchester County police and Yonkers police coordinated a "Hero's Salute" to honor Rivera, who was one of two NYPD officers who died after a shooting in Harlem on Jan. 21. Officer Wilbert Mora, 27, was also killed in that shooting.
A funeral for Rivera, 22, was held at 9 a.m. at St. Patrick's Cathedral in Manhattan. Afterward he was set to be buried at Ferncliff Cemetery in Hartsdale in a private ceremony.

Local police departments joined the procession as Rivera's body was taken north to Westchester. The procession could be seen as it proceeded north on Interstate 87 on the overpasses at McLean Avenue, Clark Street, Yonkers Avenue, Midland Avenue and Palmer Road.
The Hall Place and Clark Street overpasses were be closed for the duration. Central Park Avenue northbound service road between McLean Avenue and Clark Street was closed for the duration to accommodate emergency vehicles.
