Funeral services announced for WCBS meteorologist Elise Finch in hometown of Mount Vernon
MOUNT VERNON — The city of Mount Vernon is mourning the death of Elise Finch, who died Sunday.
The Mount Vernon native had been a meteorologist for WCBS 2 in New York for the past 16 years.
A public wake will be held from 1-6 p.m. Monday at Macedonia Baptist Church, 141 South 9th Ave. in Mount Vernon.
A celebration of life will follow at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church. The service will be streamed live for fans and residents.
After graduating from Mount Vernon High School in 1989, Finch went on to earn a bachelor of science from Georgetown University. She later earned a master's in broadcast journalism from Syracuse University.
"Elise was a gifted and consummate professional who took great care with her work," WCBS-TV said in an obituary posted on its website. "She was also a wonderful ambassador in the community, including her hometown of Mount Vernon."
Her family had recently moved back to Mount Vernon, Mayor Shawyn Patterson-Howard said Monday.
She is survived by her husband Graig Henriques, who she met at WCBS-TV, and their daughter Grace.
