Funeral services scheduled for Wyckoff woman killed in house fire

Funeral services were announced for a Wyckoff woman who died in a house fire over the weekend.

Friends and family of Virginia Ingenito, 79, may visit the Festa Memorial Funeral Home in Totowa from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. The funeral will take place at 9:15 a.m. Thursday, followed by a 10 a.m. mass at Our Lady of Consolation R.C. Church in Wayne.

Ingenito was killed Sunday in a fire that destroyed her home on Meer Avenue in Wyckoff. Township police responding to the scene shortly after noon found her unresponsive, and she was later pronounced dead, according to the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office.

The fire remains under investigation by the Prosecutor's Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and Wyckoff Police under Chief David Murphy.

Ingenito was born in Italy as one of 13 children and came to the United States in 1956, according to her obituary. She was a beautician who owned three salons before her retirement: Chez Charles in Totowa, Country Club Hair Design in Midland Park and V&V Hair Salon in Midland Park.

Ingenito is survived by a son, Charles; two grandsons, Alec and Anthony; and three siblings. In lieu of flowers, her family requests donations to the Alzheimer's Association.
