Funeral set for Monday for Austin police officer Tony Martin killed in off-duty crash

The funeral for senior Austin police officer Tony Martin, who was killed in a motorcycle crash last month while off duty, will be held on Monday.

Before dawn on the morning of Sept. 23, Martin was on his way home from working a night shift when he and his police motorcycle were involved in a crash in Liberty Hill at the Intersection of Texas 29 and RM 1869 in Williamson County, police have said.

Martin began his career with the Austin Police Department as a cadet in 2006, and became an officer the following year. Before joining Austin police, Martin had served 20 years in the U.S. Air Force.

He is survived by his parents, wife, three children, and one granddaughter.

  • Take exit off North Lamar to U.S. 183 to go north.

  • Go under U.S. 183 and make a left on northbound service road.

  • Take entrance onto northbound U.S. 183 proper

  • Take RM 620/Lake Creek Parkway/Pecan Park Boulevard exit

  • Continue on frontage through Lake Creek Parkway

  • Turn left onto Pecan Park Boulevard

  • Turn left on RM 620

  • Turn right on Little Elm Trail

  • Enter Hill Country Bible Church at the "Family Entrance" sign

Interment

  • Tuesday, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
