What’s so funny, Chicago? 5 places with the must-see comedy shows in March and April

Looking for some laughs? While “SNL” legend Tim Meadows’ April show at Zanies is sold out, there are still plenty of standup nights, showcases and other kinds of comedy shows in the coming weeks. Including the inaugural World Comedy Expo, where five local venues will demonstrate the power of laughter.

World Comedy Expo: The Annoyance Theatre, The Den Theatre, Laugh Factory and The Second City are taking part in this festival, which will showcase 170 artists throughout 27 shows. Zanies Comedy Club: Rising star Kelsey Cook has appeared on shows like “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” “Comedy Central” and “A Little Late with Lilly Singh.” She will appear with Jim Norton at the Chicago club at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. on March 18-19. Sugar Sammy, who has performed in more than 30 countries, will perform on March 23 at 8 p.m. and March 24 at 7 p.m. While Meadows’ show has sold out, Chicago’s own Irene Tu will headline a show a few days later at 8 p.m. on April 12. 1548 N.
