Furnace may have exploded at Perrysville home, according to 911 call

PERRYSVILLE – A weekend mobile home fire may have been caused by an explosion due to the home's furnace, according to a 911 call made before firefighters arrived at the scene.

Two people were injured and a mobile home was destroyed by a fire around noon Saturday, Jan. 22 in rural Perrysville. The fire happened at a location near County Road 3275 and Township Road 3475, and was called in about 11:50 a.m.

"My landlord was doing some work at his property and there was an explosion," the 911 caller said. "Him and his wife were over there doing work on their property ... there's an explosion. I think the furnace may have blown up."

When asked if the mobile home was on fire, the 911 caller said she saw smoke coming out of the whole back half of the trailer and wasn't sure how badly the individuals were injured due to the potential explosion.

The two people injured in the fire transported to OhioHealth Mansfield

Both individuals of the mobile home were transported to OhioHealth Mansfield. As of Wednesday, the statuses of the individuals were unknown.

Mutual aid was provided by Western Holmes County and Loudonville fire departments and the Ashland County Sheriff's Office.

The structure was declared a total loss. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Ohio State Fire Marshal's Office.
