Furyk Foundation invests $1.5M in Timuquana Country Club for Jacksonville tourney

The Jim and Tabitha Furyk Foundation spent notable funds for upgrades at the Timuquana Country Club in Jacksonville in advance of the Constellation Energy Furyk & Friends tournament.

The Oct. 3-9 tournament, named after Ponte Vedra Beach pro golfer Jim Furyk, is a PGA Champions Tour event and part of the Charles Schwab Cup series.

The Furyk Foundation spent $1.5 million to erect tents to house VIP guests and scaffolding and foundations for observation and television coverage, according to building permits approved by the city.

Despite Hurricane Ian, which was at tropical storm strength when it went by Duval County, the preparations for the tournament went on. The course took only 1.25 inches of rain and none of the temporary tournament structures was damaged, the Times-Union reported.

Clear Constructors LLC is the contractor that erected the tents and scaffolding.

New Chipotle making progress

A Chipotle Mexican Grill being built on Jacksonville’s Southside is progressing right along.

Recently approved building permits for the 5801 Beach Blvd. restaurant are for plumbing, electrical and mechanical operations that will cost $567,404.
