Future Black History Makers: Meet Jadon James, an eighth-grader at Southview Middle

Jadon James, 13, the son of Jennifer James-Morrow, is in eighth grade at Southview Middle School.

He was nominated as a Fayetteville Observer Future Black History Maker because "I met Jadon last year when he was in the play 'Matilda' at the Cape Fear Regional Theatre as Bruce," his nominator Jennifer Peake, district instructional coach, writes. "He was amazing. I then learned he was an honor roll student in school as well as an athlete. He was a member of the school's wrestling team, soccer manager, and played AAU football. I was amazed at how he was assisting his brother with his sports and school work every time I was around him. Jadon has big dreams for his future and I am excited to see all of his dreams come true."

What his parents say

What makes your child a Future Black History Maker? Jadon is a natural-born leader. It’s his leadership and ability to draw a crowd in anything he does that makes him a Future Black History Maker to me. The way he thinks and makes things happen no matter what struggles may be up against him also makes him a Future Black History Maker. He will literally make something out of nothing and it will be amazing!

Why are you proud of your child? I am proud of the young man Jadon is growing up to be. I’m proud that he doesn’t let other people’s thoughts or negativity stop him from reaching his goals. (Whether he's) playing a sport, singing a song, or acting in a play, he gives it everything he has and helps those around him to reach their maximum success even if it means dimming his light so they can have a chance to shine!
