GA father dead after head smashed into cement structure during freak boating accident, reports say

A Georgia father is dead after a freak boating accident in Liberty County.

The man was on a boating trip with his kids, ages 2 and 16, when he hit his head on a cement structure as they went under a bridge along Jones Creek, the Georgia Department of Natural Resources confirmed to the Macon Telegraph.

The 16-year-old was able to drive the boat to land and call for help, WJCL-TV reported.

First responders attempted CPR on the man, who was later pronounced dead at the scene, the Telegraph reported.

The newspaper identified the father as Joshua Weitz Gill, 44, of Ludowici. Investigators told the TV station that no damage was done to the bridge.
