Ga. hospital performs its first robotic knee replacement surgeries

Technology is helping the way surgeries are being performed thanks to new innovative options.

The Northeast Georgia Medical Center announced on Monday will be carrying out robotic knee replacement alternatives.

According to the center, this option will help for greater accuracy and faster recovery.

On July 25, Dr. Shan Sharif, an orthopedic surgeon and Northeast Georgia Physicians Group performed the first robotic-assisted knee replacement surgery at NGMC Gainesville.

Three weeks prior, on July 3, Dr. Chris Linbery and the medical staff performed the first robotic-assisted knee replacement surgery at NGMC Braselton.

The center states patients looking for knee replacements in northeast Georgia will have access to a surgical option closer to home.
